40L Frameless Pack

This is a pack based of the Stitchback TH40, with some slight modifications. Material wise i used:
-Ultragrid for the main body,
– some seconds 210D GridStop UHMWPE from Adventurexpert for the straps and hipbelt
-EPLX400 for the back bottom and back
– a polyester mesh for the side and back pockets.
-lycra strech mesh for the bottom pocket

I tested out a hybrid approach to the straps, somewhere between a regular S strap and a running pack vest style strap. I took the strap pattern from TH40 and modified to have a wider end. Included two small sternum straps to spread the load across my chest.

I also went for a hybrid approach to the side pockets: solid down the bottom and a mesh to the upper, like these Chicken Tramper Gear packs. However I made the same mistake as my my daypack with the design / gusseting of these and have ended up them being too short. Another lesson in checking features as you build.

Served my fairly well on my Spey to Skye trip, my first proper usage of it. Ended up ripping lots of stiches at the top of the pack when i picked it up with the top compression strap instead of the haul loop. Should have used a stronger thread. Also a clear sign that i need to learn how how to sew a bar tack.
