In 2015 I took an evening ceramics course at a local college, spending 3 terms learning how to work with clay and glazes. I gravitated to hand building over throwing on the wheel. By the end of the year I realised that there was a rich vein of possibility if you think in terms of folding, designing patterned nets which emboss into the clay and can then be assembled into ae 3 dimensional shape. I’d like to explore the possibilities of this technique further when I next get regular access to a studio space.
