I came across the Kungsleden by chance. At a friends house we were doing a post dinner scroll through adventure videos on Youtube, and came across a video on the trail. I would have never guessed at the time that in less than a year’s time I’d be setting off southwards from Abisko.
I made several videos that are on youtube which give a sense of what its like, follow the route day by day with a map, and has a gear list.
Reflecting on the experience several years later, it’s one my favourite trails that I’ve hiked. Northern Sweden is stunningly beautiful, especially in the Autumn. Its feels remote while having the infrastructure of the STF cabins throughout the route and its not too long between resupplies.
As is my habit i kept a trail journal in which i also did some sketching. Below are some of them which i scanned and digitally painted into.
