These are a collection of some bike rides i did around and from London when i was living there.
This is a London to Brighton route that I’ve cycled many times. Cycling through the the outer boroughs of London always tends to be a bit shit, so get a train to Coulsdon or Caterham and set off from there. Crossing over the M25 it mainly goes on quiet roads over the Weald. Takes in the climb up to Ditchling Beacon (go low and slow!) and then a beautiful cruise downhill all the way to the sea.
If you live in the south east this makes a nice Sunday ride. Getting the Woolwhich ferry over the river is a great time (check its running or you have to use the tunnel). Love the way the river opens up as you head east and the broad views back into the city.
I did this when training for the Ride London charity bike event. Easy canal riding up the Lea valley and then out onto mostly quiet country roads until you pick up a national cycle route.
